LIVERY

Found in the small horse community of Morningstar; a cluster of small holdings mostly dedicated to keeping horses – Legends Equestrian Centre is a large livery yard with an active Riding School and a very enthusiastic Pony Club branch.
Previously known as Cheval Equestrian Centre, it was taken over by the Lowther family at the beginning of 2011.
They have made a lot of improvements- adding more stables and paddocks; re-surfacing the show arena; adding a tuck shop and clubhouse - and general upgrading of the facilities.

It is in a wonderfully close community where everyone knows everyone and they all get involved in horsey activities and social get togethers, as well as keeping an eye on neighbourhood security.

The yard has 44 horses, of which 14 are school horses, . We strive to run an efficient livery yard and believe in natural horsemanship in the sense that most of our horses live out.

We have a barn, with 12 inside stables and 6 new stables in the front. We also have 13 outside 'walk-in' stables, for the more natural feel.

Our paddocks all have wooden fencing with shade-cloth shelters in each for shade and rain protection.
We have paddocks for single horses (mainly for competition horses that can't get marks on for showing etc) and bigger paddocks for 2 ( or a maximum of 3 ) horses per paddock , with them being as closely temperamentally suited to each other as possible.
We have 5 grooms which clean the stables and paddocks daily.

There is a lunge ring, a large double-laned ring for beginners or loose-lunging;2 sand working arenas, and a stunning show arena. Our new grass showing arena will be ready soon, and we are busy building a new dressage arena.
We also have wonderful outrides through the bush, with our own super bush jumps for the more adventurous!
Parents can now relax in the clubhouse and have a cup of coffee and something to eat while watching the kids ride.

Legends has experienced and friendly staff on hand to look after your loved horse and keen children.

RIDING SCHOOL

The riding school caters for all ages and levels of rider- from 4yr old to
50yr old beginners, to more advanced riders competing in dressage, jumping and equitation.
Our instructors are SANEF qualified and are dedicated to teaching the correct way of riding, emphasising on safety as well as enjoyment.

We have wonderful school horses that give riders confidence, and the desire to progress and go further in their riding.
We have various horses available for half lease, and have many different activities available encouraging riders to enjoy caring for and riding horses.

We have regular daily lessons available for groups or individuals; tiny tots (under 6yrs), and more advanced riders.
Mornings are popular for our adult riders, while afternoon lessons start from about 2pm till 6pm.
The morning 'housewives' group is a fun popular lesson!

Saturdays are always busy and lessons run all day.

The riding school is always organising different activities, from holiday camps/ boot camps/ pet shows/ treasure hunts / fancy dress competition s/ gymkhanas and outrides.

SHOWS

We have a 60m X 60m show arena that has recently been re-surfaced and upgraded - and is carefully maintained to provide us with excellent footing for jumping/ dressage or showing competitions, no matter what the weather.

We try to hold regular competitions every few months to encourage our riders to grow and get confidence in their riding.

We have a regular course designer for show-jumping, guest judges for dressage and showing- and great catering facilities!

CAMPS

Our Holiday camps are extremely popular with the kids in December and April. We have up to 30 kids camping over at times in tents and in the clubhouse.

ACTIVITIES INCLUDE: * riding lessons * lectures on horse care
* quizzes * treasure hunts
* swimming, games * boot camp

* and the ever entertaining fancy dress competition!

There is 24hr adult supervision, and kids are under the watchful eye of team leaders at all times.
Daily activites are carefully planned to be fun and educational.
Kids learn to feed, look after and ride horses. They play games, swim and have a lot of fun doing team building activities.

BOOT CAMP is proving to be popular with the kids - with tyre mania, tunnel terror and the ever
gross mud pit a test of their steel! Never mind the fear factor jelly!
All meals are included, and there is a tuck shop for snack time.

Evenings are spent playing games or watching horsey videos.

PONY CLUB

The South African Pony Club falls under the British Pony Club, which is international-with branches from New Zealand to America, Europe to all over!
